Bea's Bat Mitzvah
Fundraiser for Unit 669

Hi All ,Last spring, I had the honor of attending an event in Greenwich, CT, for The American Friends of Unit 669 (AFU 669). There, I met two courageous former members of this elite IDF unit, which left a lasting impression on me.


Unit 669 is a Special Operations Unit within the IDF, renowned for its expertise in extraction, evacuation, and technical support. These brave soldiers operate in high-risk environments to rescue hostages, injured personnel, and disaster victims. Their missions extend beyond Israeli and American citizens; for instance, in 2003, they rescued ten Turkish seamen stranded during a severe Mediterranean storm, navigating extreme weather to save their lives.


The training for Unit 669 is incredibly rigorous. Of the 200 soldiers who begin the program, less than 10% complete it, undergoing intensive instruction in paratrooping, advanced medical care, and various combat scenarios.


Inspired by the bravery of these heroes, I’ve chosen to support Unit 669 as my Mitzvah project. I invite you to join my family and me in contributing to their vital mission of saving lives through search and rescue.
