DAVID BEN-ELI

David Ben-Eli, MD, FACEP, FAEMS did his Emergency Residency at the NYU /Bellevue program and an EMS Fellowship at the FDNY / LIJ program. Dr. Ben-Eli has been functioning as an EMS Medical Director since graduation in 2007, most recently (from 2011) with the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), where he is the Division Medical Director of the Borough of Queens, and the Medical Director for the Haz-Tac Battalion (providing the medical component for Haz-Mat operations), and Resident / Medical Student Education. Dr. Ben-Eli regularly participates in teaching and training of EMTs, paramedics, medical students, EM residents, and EMS fellows. He also functions as a Response Physician, is a Medical Team Manager on the FEMA USAR NY-TF1 and FDNY SOC TF, and has previously been a Section Commander in a Military S&R MedEvac Unit (rank: Major).


Dr. Ben-Eli Chairs the Medical Standards Committee of the NYC Regional Emergency Medical Advisory Committee (REMAC), where he takes part in defining, writing, and updating citywide prehospital protocols. He has been part of large-scale NYC citywide trials (SmartCPR, Project Hypothermia, NETT) and initiatives that are in the forefront of prehospital medical care innovation (STEMI, LVO Stroke). He is participating in a number of current on-going large citywide studies (Stroke Outcomes, Pediatric EMS Utilization).


Dr. Ben-Eli is Board Certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine in both Emergency Medicine and EMS Medicine, and is an Attending Emergency Physician at Northern Westchester Hospital, Mount Kisco, NY.
